“500 SMILES” Christmas Shoeboxes
Since 2018, St. John’s has been running a Christmas shoebox project that sends gifts to disadvantaged, poverty stricken children in central Transylvania. This year, more than ever and despite COVID19, we are determined to run the project again.
This project has always been called “500 smiles”, but our goal is to ensure that when the boxes come in and they’re counted, we’re able to give far more smiles than that this Christmas.
Please watch this short film to learn about our plans for 2020, which was filmed in December 2019, as our team arrived to help distribute the boxes.
COVID19 and the 2020 appeal
As we all know, 2020 has been a year like no other and we believe that these children need a gift this Christmas perhaps more than ever. So we are 100% committed to continuing this project, so we’re asking you to partner with us in helping to make Christmas 2020 as special as in can be. The looks of joy, wonder and sheer delight on the faces of the children who receive shoeboxes is almost impossible to describe, so please stand with us and commit to being part of something special.

The shoeboxes will be available to collect from St. John’s church shortly. If you are a school, please let us know how many boxes you would like and we will deliver them to you. If you would like some ideas as to what to pack in the box please CLICK HERE for a packing list.
