Honey for Hope
The aim of Honey for Hope is simple: to sell beautiful Transylvanian honey to raise funds to support some of the most disadvantaged projects in Romania that we already partner with through our building projects and Christmas shoebox appeal. It’s our hope that people will support this on an ongoing basis as a way to make a regular donation to the project.
about the honey
We love honey – and this honey is good! In fact, this honey is special… 100% pure, completely untreated, organic, and delicious. Not pasteurised and thereby retaining its goodness, it comes from the mountains of the Salaj region and is collected by a master beekeeper to ensure the highest quality.
Honey is enjoying a real resurgence as a “superfood”, across all generations, and in August 2018 the UK NICE National Institute of Care Excellence issued advice to the general public to use honey as a remedy for a cough rather than visit a doctor.
Apart from being delicious to eat raw, honey is used extensively in cooking around the world and is a natural substitute for sugar. (Please note – honey is not recommended for infants under the age of 1)
how do i order?
Eileen Read is our amazing SJC “Queen Bee” and all orders for honey can be placed directly with Eileen by calling her on 01206 851361 or by emailing HERE or by contacting the church office. Once your order is received, we will deliver directly to your door (Colchester only) as soon as possible. Payment can be by cash upon collection or if you’d prefer you can pay directly into the church account, quoting “honey” as a reference:

Why are we doing this?
We want to impact for good, the lives of disadvantaged people living in poor conditions – to support, enable and improve their quality of life from what is currently one of social isolation and marginalisation.
The honey arrives into the UK in barrels for jarring, labelling and selling and along each step of the “chain” volunteers help with these tasks. This ensures that ALL profits go directly to the people and projects. The Honey for hope project is overseen by Belief in Action, the charity who we travel to Romania with.
